Coldplay Music Video, Considered Disturbing India



Some time ago, Coldplay has released their music video entitled Hymn For The Weekend. In the video shows the visual celebration of Holi in India. Visually the video looks good but  reap the controversy. 

Controversy arises from the problem of meaning in the music video. Coldplay considered exploitation of culture without doing prior approach. So that the music video considered has hurt the long historical culture and society of India. 

Reportedly by Huffingtonpost, Coldplay considered insensitive to the history of colonialism ever experienced Indian nation, 70 years ago. Coldplay in a band from British and India was colonized by British.

In addition, another controversy about the stereotype that Coldplay raised about India. They like showing a portrait of poverty, and the Sadhu. 

Criticism also came to Beyonce who was dressed as a Bollywood star. As an African-American woman, Beyonce considered insensitive about racism which also hit India.

But, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor who also appeared in the music video that has a different opinion. She felt what was appointed director Ben Mor via the music video that is appropriate. "As Indians, we use a lot of westernization in movies and music videos. No one was talking about the sensitivities of others" said Sonam Kapoor.
